Beautiful Day Pt II

Then we met Jess and Sammy at the park. By that time, it was 80 degrees.

Notice Ike with no pants on! I'm so classy.

Beautiful Day Pt I

Sarah, Atticus, Cal, Ike and I all went to the park in the morning.

Cake

I went upstairs to put Isaac down for a nap and came back to this. Cal said that it was a cake. Can you believe he did that all by himself? Notice the sippy cup in the bottom layer. Ha.

Boys will be Boys

Me: Cal, you're a silly, silly boy.
Cal: You're not a silly, silly boy.
Me: I'm not?
Cal: No.
Me: Then what am I?
Cal: A pooper.

Park Mania

It was over 60 degrees here yesterday (finally!) so we went to the park with Sarah and Atticus. We had lots of fun. Cal didn't want to leave.

Stick Obsessions

Both boys are very into sticks right now. Cal wants to run really fast with his, playing Red Light Green Light. And he pumps his arms really high while he runs, so that doesn't fly with me.

More Fun with Stools

This is such an easy place to plop Isaac while I fix food and Cal loves it, too.

Playing with Hannah and Matthew

Already friends

Hannah likes to do what the babies are doing if they are getting attention.

Matthew and Lisa

I guess I didn't get any pictures of Cal this day! Yes, that's Lisa looking FOXY! (Really, Lisa, you look great, even though I know you are probably thinking, "Thanks, a lot, Leah!"

The Meaning Of...

It seems that all of our efforts to have Cal know the real meaning of holidays has been in vain...

Me: What's your full name, Cal?
Cal: Calvin David Miller
Me: How old are you?
Cal: 2
Me: Who's the author and perfector of your faith?
Cal: Jesus.
Me: Who is Jesus?
Cal: God.
Me: Why do we celebrate Easter?
Cal: Because Jesus is alive! (He just learned that one.)
Me: Why do we celebrate Christmas?
Cal: [pause] Santa!

Weekend with Aunt Dana

We had our costume bin out and Cal put on a wig and hat. Yes, we have a costume bin. We needed it so that Eric could dress up for the spelling bee (see below).

This was the Drunken Bee that Brad and Sarah hosted although none of us were drunk. We had lots of fun and Eric and I won!

Cal and Dana at the Mall of America

Dana was here for four days. Cal had lots of fun with Dana. Highlights were the Drunken Bee (of course), Mall of America, Chiang Mai Thai... Oh, and Dana babysat while Eric and I played in our volleyball league. We came in second.

Early Easter Fun

See the "hiding" egg in the Johnny Jump-up?

Grandpa Steve and GrandMa Barb sent a bunch of awesome stuff up with Aunt Dana for Easter- including fun eggs with candy and money inside. Aunt Dana and Eric hid them and Cal had so much fun looking for them. In fact, that has been the toy of the week around here. I hide them while Cal counts (I have to hide them quickly since he counts to 12 as fast as he can). We play outside, too.

Silly with Stools

Look at how Isaac is looking at Cal in every picture! He absolutely adores Cal. I love that they are sort of starting to play together.

Cal Cal

Today, Calvin had a package of diapers. He said, "Look , mommy! A diapertangle!" He was combining rectangle and diaper. Ha.

With Easter coming, I was reminded of something Cal did about a month ago. I hadn't really talked to him about Jesus' death on the cross because I wasn't sure how much he would understand or if it would be weird. I finally pulled out an Easter book and got to the part about his death. I said, "Look, Cal. There's Jesus. Mean men killed him by nailing him on the cross. There's a crown of thorns on his head." Cal was quiet for a second, then pointed to Jesus and shouted, "Look! Jesus' boobs!"

The boys

Does anyone realize how hard it is to get a good picture of two kids at the same time?

More Museum Fun

This is from a water exhibit.

Cal kept putting the bubble wands around his neck! I have no idea why. He had bubbles all over his head that kept popping. Then he would go over to the little dryer (behind him) to dry off. He spent most of his time at the little sink and dryer.
There was a stage that showed what you were doing on a TV. There was fun music to dance and play instruments. Cal had the microphone, the guitar and a maracca. He loved it.

This was in a room called "Big World" or something like that. Everything is mini. They have a grocery store, a bus, a kitchen, a backyard with flowers... Cal put on a vest for the traffic director and the hard hat for the construction worker. He loved looking in the mirror at himself.

Isaac- 4 1/2 months

Ike is a beast. He weighs 18 lbs and is 27 inches tall. He's in the 92nd percentile for weight and 97th for height!
He has been laughing a lot and loves to talk in the morning. He tries to sit up by himself, but can only do it for a couple seconds. He hates to be cradled, loves to stand up and be in the front carrier. As long as he can see!
Isaac still sleeps in his carseat for naps and bedtime. I can't seem to get him out of that, but I'm trying not to stress about it.
Hooray for Isaac!

Museum

I'm not sure what Ike was thinking for this picture.

He usually does this when he's pooping.

There's a Bob the Builder exhibit at the museum right now and it's lots of fun. The camera got a little smudged when I let Cal hold it for a second. It was actually Jess' camera and most of her pictures turned out like that. Sorry, Jess! We'll have to go again.
