Welcome Freddie!

Baby Freddie was born at noon today weighing 9 lbs, 2 oz; 21 inches long!

Congratulations, Jacob, Jess and big brother Sammy.

Visitors at the hospital are welcome!

Fun Day with Sammy!

We had Sammy while Jess was birthing Freddie.
It was a gorgeous day, so the boys played outside a lot.

Wildflower Preserve

I know it's blurry, but look how happy Atticus is! Right after this, he toppled over and rolled down an incline (or is it decline?).

My lovely friends, Sarah and Atticus. It was Sarah's idea to go to this preserve. It's right off the highway and we never knew it was here! That's a benefit of Minneapolis. Lots of nature.

Thank goodness Sarah was with us. She was teaching Cal about all the flowers- their names, when they bloom, something cool about them... Here she is showing him moss. They were "petting" it.

What? You want me to carry 19 pounds of solid mass? No biggie! I'm a tough brood.

Hat vs. Head

Me: Do you want to wear your hat, Cal?
Cal: No, I don't want to wear my hat. I just want to wear my head.

Good Question

Whenever Cal asks me if he can do something (jump on his bed, for example) or eat something (a treat), and I'm not sure, I tell him that I want to think about it. He has picked this up, apparantly. I'll ask him something he's not sure of, like "Do you remember where we went yesterday?" and he'll answer "You want to think about it."

When I was a baby...

Our friend, Sasha, was over today. She is 3 1/2 and very into babies. I was nursing Isaac and wiping his eye boogers with a tissue. Tasha asked me what I was doing, so I told her. She said, "When I was a baby, my mommy nursed me and wiped my eye boogers with a tissue." Cal wanted so bad to be a part of our conversation. He said, "When I was a baby... I pooped."

Play on Words

Calvin put his shovel into my shoe and said, "Look, mom! A shoe-vel!"

Cal Running in the Yard

I know this isn't a great video, but it's my first try and I'm experimenting. We'll see how this goes, ok?

Weekend O' Fun

So, Jess and Jacob went to the hospital today thinking they were going to bring home Baby Freddie. It turns out, they didn't. In the meantime we did a poor job of watching Sammy. The boys got into the sun lotion and smeared it everywhere. Cal loved it especially in his hair.

I wanted you all to see Ike's man-boobs. He's about 19 pounds now.

Eric and I were excited to go to the Minnesota Zoo on Saturday. It was beautiful out and we had never been to this particular zoo. We got there at 3:50 and they closed at 4:00. So, we turned around and went to the mall. I guess we bored Cal because he fell asleep on the way.

Apology

Last night, Cal was whining for some more jello after I already told him no. I sent him to his "time-out step" for two minutes. When the timer went off, he jumped off the step, ran up and put his face right to mine and said, "I'm sorry for whining, Mommy." His first unprompted apology! I'm so proud.

Fun with Friends

Can you tell they aren't potty trained yet? Fully clothed... They did this themselves. Sammy and Cal like to run upstairs while we are downstairs. Usually they play in Cal's room, but this time, we found them like this.

Cal loves the bigger neighborhood boys. These two are Ben and Perionne. They are so great with Cal and Isaac.

Ike loves to be outside, too, as long as he can see his brother.

Like Father Like Son

Cal likes to joke around that the hair I sweep up in a pile is "dog poop." He did that yesterday with a big pile of hair. He said, "That's a big dog poop" and laughed. I said, "noooo, that's dog hair." He said, "I like to call it dog poop. Poop is funny!"

More Pictures

The first time for Isaac in the burley. They did great. You'll notice that Ike doesn't have a helmet on. We only have one right now and Eric says that Cal gets it because we have more vested in him.

Cal using the paints Grandma Sally got him.

Crazy Neighborhood Girl Dane

Cal hiding in the "hole" in this tree.

On Easter, Sammy and Cal did an Easter Egg Hunt in their pimpin' sweater vests.

Sammy's mom, Jess. She's almost ready to go!

I babysat Sammy and the boys were going crazy jumping on the couch. Here they are resting.

Here's the awesome trainset from the Millers

Sammy spent the night last night. The boys were so excited to wake up, play and eat together.

Talking lots...

We went out to lunch with Jarrod, Katie and new baby Addison today. Cal interrupted our conversation to say, "Remember when you dropped Isaac on his head, mommy?" Sure, I kinda dropped Isaac on his head about three weeks ago. He was sitting in my lap on the floor and I reached forward and he tipped off of my lap onto his head on the carpet. Thanks, Cal.

We were out biking today with the kids in the bike trailer. Cal continued to ask to go to the park, but we didn't have time. He said in a whiny voice, "I want to be happy at the paaaaarrrkkk...."

Crazy March in Minnesota

Beginning of March

End of March

I updated all of March's pictures in Cal's Photos (Link to the left of this blog). The album is called "3.2007". I think it's on the fourth line down. There are about 150 pictures in it, so I won't be offended if you don't look at them. I think I take more pictures now than I did when Cal was born (ahem, mom).

And more pictures (scroll down for lots more)

This is Cal eating some foodat 6 months.

Here's Ike. He just started eating cereal last week. He really likes it.

Isaac is starting to sit up. He still falls over once in a while, but he's doing great.

And he loves his toes!

Jeckyl and Ike

Lots of New Pictures

Cal put these together all by himself on our fridge. He said, "Look! My name!"

This is our new friend, Jane. She's two months older than Ike, but is smaller.

We went to the park on a muddy, chilly day, but the boys loved it. They got so dirty.

Jessica got Calvin this green roll-on soap from Avon. He loves it. Notice his green face. He rubs it on his face more than anywhere else.

Happy Easter

We had a great Easter with the boys. We had a potluck breakfast at church. Cal had a gag reflex to a egg dish I forced him to eat and puked all over. I caught most of it, though. After that, he ran around with all the other kids. After church, he got to look through his Easter basket. His favorite gift is the container of marbles that I know I will be finding all over the place. The Rods and Dave came after nap for a ham, potato, veggie dinner and Cal and Sammy played a lot. Ike had fun, too, and was finally able to go to bed at a decent hour.
Thanks, Grandma Sally, for the awesome vests that you knitted. We got lots of compliments.

Are all flowers pretty?

Cal: Look at these flowers! Flowers are pretty. But not all flowers.
Me: Which flowers aren't pretty, Cal? (I'm thinking I'm going to give him a lesson in all of God's creation being beautiful.)
Cal: Dead ones are not pretty.

God's Sense of Humor

I just took this picture of our backyard.
